TRAINING

OVERVIEW The Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN) offers FREE training opportunities in various formats on a broad range of topics for child nutrition professionals working in school nutrition and child care settings. ICN’s training supports USDA’s Professional Standards for school nutrition professionals and are recognized by USDA, Food and Nutrition Service as a resource for school nutrition professionals to complete their training requirements. The relevant professional standards, competencies, knowledge, and skills statements, and learning objectives are identified in every training and are listed in the course Instructor’s Manual and Participant’s Workbook.

Using a network of expert trainer consultants, ICN delivers face-to-face training seminars and virtual instructor-led trainings (VILTs) to child nutrition professionals across the country. In addition, ICN conducts pre-conference sessions and other presentations at national, regional, and state conferences. On-site training may be requested at little or no cost. ICN’s FREE, self-paced online course system, iLearn , supports the professional development of child nutrition program personnel at all levels of responsibility.
