We’re starting the year by casting a wider net, figuring out which companies and innovative partners we can rely on to collaborate. We’re testing things out. We really want—sometimes even in “cooperation” with our competitors— to find the next technology that we will make as an industry standard together. This year is going to be all about collaboration. TRENDING AHEAD AI, sustainability, and energy are big for us this year. AI isn’t new – we’ve been using AI in our business for years. But this year, we’re looking for other AI solutions, especially as it relates to helping transform our business to improve business decision making, drive efficiencies, and develop new opportunities for customers. We also have energy and sustainability goals. Prologis has a net zero commitment by 2040. We’re focused on finding opportunities, not only for us but for our suppliers and partners to be more sustainable, whether it’s in the building materials we use for the construction of our properties or offering new energy solutions. GOODBYE, INNOVATION THEATER The days of innovation theater are behind us. When I started my career, it was all about cool office spaces and “Shark Tank” style pitch competitions. Internally, it revolved more
around idea generation and less about pain points and figuring out what customers need in the future. “The discipline needs to be about finding those pain points, and collaboratively whatever you’re developing solves their problems.” That’s what I think needs to change about the discipline: the theater needs to go away.
