GENYOUth 2024 Annual Report Digizine

MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

For over a decade, America’s dairy farmers and the NFL have been foundational partners of GENYOUth, demonstrating the power of collective action to improve youth wellness. Their continued support has driven meaningful progress and inspired many others to join our mission. This annual report highlights our achievements, and the collective impact we are making together to ensure children are well-nourished and physically active to be their best selves. Because of the invaluable engagement of GENYOUth’s partners and supporters, we are continuing to make great strides—expanding school meal and physical activity access, providing essential equipment, and uplifting youth voice in programs that foster healthier lifestyles. As the well-being of youth faces continued challenge, GENYOUth’s work is more critical than ever. One in five U.S. children faces food insecurity, and diet-related chronic diseases are rising. Most fall short of nutrition recommendations for whole grains, dairy, fruits, and vegetables, leading to low intake of key nutrients like calcium, Vitamin D, fiber, potassium, and iron. At the same time, fewer than 1 in 4 children get enough daily physical activity, with girls at even greater risk. Closing these gaps is essential to their health, well- being, and academic success. At GENYOUth, in our continued partnership with the public and private sectors, we are committed to closing these gaps through: • Expanding access to nutrient-rich foods—dairy, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains—to help bridge critical nutrient gaps. • Boosting school meal participation, especially breakfast programs. • Modernizing nutrition education. • Increasing physical activity opportunities. • Inspiring lifelong healthy habits. Thank you for your dedication and for taking the time to review our many advancements and key initiatives in 2024. Together, we are shaping a healthier future for the next generation.
