This is a high protein breakfast that's super easy and quick to make. Not everyone has time for a high maintenance breakfast in the morning. But you can still make time for great nutrition. Hummus & Smoked Salmon Toast
T his recipe is so tasty, that I love making it even when I have plenty of time. The fact that it comes together in less than 5 minutes makes it an easy option. I used a store-bought hummus be - cause it's pretty tasty and my meal prep gets cut down to zero. I like using hummus and whole wheat toast instead of bagels and cream cheese for this recipe be - cause it cuts down on a heavy carb load to start the day while increasing proteins. Starting your morning with protein gives you the stamina to get through busy mornings . Hummus is made from pureed chickpeas and tahini which are both good sources of protein. Hummus comes in all flavors. The hummus aisle is starting to look like the yogurt aisle in that there are so many variations. I've even seen chocolate and brownie hummus for des - sert. What a great idea! I choose the everything but
the bagel hummus because it's reminiscent of the ba - gel that I crave in the morning without the bread and instead gives me protein. The bread that I use is whole grain to give me lots of fi - ber so that I can feel full longer and enjoy my breakfast late into the morning hours. You can go for a sprouted bread or a whole wheat white bread, just make sure you get in lots of fiber. Making good decisions in the morning carries on throughout the day naturally. Smoked salmon is high in protein and Omega-3's. Omega-3's are great for your heart. These are what we call the "good" fats because they work like a protec - tive shield helping your heart be stronger. You'll need a strong heart to keep you going throughout the day. That's why it's recommended by the American Heart Association that everyone has 1 - 2 servings of fish
high in Omega-3's a week. This hummus and smoked salmon toast is one way to get in a serving for breakfast. Once you taste this toast, you'll be tell - ing avocado toast to move over. The hummus toast is taking over.
