A message from the 2025-2026 FSNA President Roy R. Pistone II , RDN, M.Ed., SNS

Hello FSNA Members! I hope you are all doing well. I want to take a moment to wish each of you the happiest of holidays and of course, a Happy New Year! I am truly excited to see what 2026 has in store for our incredible Association. For those of you that attended our Annual Conference in October, you experienced “The Wow!” Our Past President, Tony Jenkins, did an incredible job during his term and it was so befitting to have a fun-filled Annual Conference to recognize Tony for his leadership! KUDOS to our “Second to None”, FSNA Team, CB, Donna and Jessica, for all their hard work in making the conference so memorable! We are looking forward to our upcoming “Voices at the Table” event, January 20-21, 2026 in Tallahassee. If you haven’t booked your reservation, please do so ASAP. FSNA Members will be discussing important issues with our legislators that affect our School Nutrition Programs. Remember the old adage, “There is Power in Numbers”.

Speaking of “Power in Numbers”, it is not too early to be thinking of our upcoming Annual Conference, “The Derby Dash”. The conference will be held at the beautiful World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida from May 14-16, 2026. This venue will surely emphasize our catch phrase, “Bringing the Wow”. I trust our local Chapters are working on the President’s Initiatives for this year. As a refresher the Initiatives are as follows: 1) Increase your local chapter membership by 5% 2) Invite local Legislators to join you for School Lunch and/or School Breakfast (remember to take photos or record a video of their visit) 3) Hold fundraisers to ensure your members have the necessary financial support to attend the 2026 Derby Dash 4) Expand your local chapter’s media

In closing, I want to personally thank our FSNA Board Members, Kevin Thornton, Valerie Hansen, Tim Thompson, Sean Ellis, John Tyre, Blake Dicks, Justin Mundet, Vera Torres, Caron Rowe, Gwen Freier, Jamie Dicks, Julia Oberst, Josh Fowler, Jose Herreria, CB Banner and Vianka Colin. These incredibly gifted individuals give of their time and talents to better our Association. I am truly blessed to work alongside them. In addition to our Board Members, I want to thank our Industry Partners who help us to make a Difference in the lives of children. They truly are our Partners, and I am grateful to all of them. Finally, I pray that each of our FSNA Members has a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Please take the time to relax and spend quality time with your loved ones. You all truly deserve it! With Much Appreciation For ALL You Do, Roy R. Pistone II, RDN, MEd, SNS 2025-2026 FSNA President

By: CB Banner, FSNA Executive Director DAYTONA SET THE STANDARD. OCALA WILL SET THE STAGE.

A look back at FSNA’s 2025 Annual Conference in Daytona Beach and a first look at what’s next: The Gathering Table 2026. From October 23–25, 2025, school nutrition leaders from across Florida filled the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach with momentum you could feel from the lobby to the closing session. The 2025 FSNA Annual Conference wasn’t just a meeting, it was a milestone. A statement.

A reminder that when this industry comes together with intention, the impact is undeniable. It was three days of collaboration, courage, culture, and forward-focused leadership and now, the only question ringing through the halls is: What will we make possible next?

6 | Healthy Harvest December 2025

The Energy was Different This Year Whether you walked into the first director session, the packed expo floor,

• Networking moments that felt like reunion meets mastermind, because in Florida, the power is in the relationships And yes, Daytona delivered that coastal atmosphere that made space for both inspiration and much-needed exhale. Between ocean sunrises, late-night strategy conversations, and brand activations that felt more curated than conventional, the tone was set: FSNA is evolving.

or the after-hours meetups on the boardwalk, there was one shared sentiment: We are no longer simply managing school nutrition, we are shaping it. The 2025 conference delivered: • Education sessions led by trendsetters, operators, and statewide leaders • An elevated expo experience where suppliers and decision-makers truly connected, not just exchanged business cards • Innovation conversations that moved beyond products into systems, partnerships, policy, and design • Celebrations of excellence including directors, managers, and rising leaders who are redefining what’s possible in their districts

Healthy Harvest December 2025 | 7

THE SHIFT WASN’T JUST FELT — IT WAS NAMED.

Leaders left this year’s conference clearer on their mandate than ever before: • We must influence beyond the cafeteria. • We must innovate intentionally, not reactively. • We must advocate with unity, not exhaustion. • We must create solutions built for scale, equity, and excellence. This isn’t the same industry it was three years ago. And FSNA isn’t the same association. We are becoming the table where statewide direction is shaped, and that momentum is now carrying us directly into our most ambitious event yet.

NEXT UP: THE GATHERING TABLE 2026

May 14–16, 2026 | World Equestrian Center | Ocala, FL If Daytona was the spark, Ocala will be the flame. Next year, FSNA is stepping onto one of the most breathtaking stages in the Southeast: The World Equestrian Center. A destination known for its luxury, hospitality, and extraordinary guest experience, a perfect match for the future we’re building. Where leadership meets legacy. Where strategy meets community. Where the next chapter of school nutrition is shaped, not just discussed. Expect: • Immersive leadership labs and summit- style sessions.

• Vendor experiences that innovate beyond the expo. • VIP-level hospitality designed for the people who lead with heart and results. • A reimagined schedule that honors both professional excellence and personal renewal. • Spaces where Florida’s voices, YOUR voices, drive the national conversation. And yes! there will be moments of celebration, ease, elevation, and joy. Because leading this work is hard, purpose-driven, and deserving of luxury.

THE INVITATION IS NOW OPEN

If you were in Daytona, you already know, the tide is turning. If you missed it, don’t make that mistake twice. Save the date. Gather your team. Table, every seat is strategic. Every voice matters. And every leader belongs. We’ll see you at the table, May 14–16, 2026. Start planning for Ocala. Because at The Gathering

Membership in the Florida School Nutrition Association (FSNA) is more than a professional box to check—it’s a pathway to growth, connection, and long-term success. When we share our experiences as members, we not only highlight the benefits we’ve received, but we also inspire others to take full advantage of this incredible network. FSNA provides access to training, advocacy, and resources that strengthen both individuals and school nutrition programs across the state. From keeping members up to date on federal and state policies, to offering continuing education that builds confidence and expertise, FSNA equips us to serve students at the highest level. But the true value of membership comes to life when we share our stories about how a workshop gave us new tools, how a conference connection opened doors, or how ongoing support reminded us we’re not alone in this important work. By openly talking about the impact of FSNA, we create a ripple effect. We encourage colleagues to get involved, strengthen our collective voice, and ensure that school nutrition professionals are seen and valued as leaders in education. Sharing isn’t just about personal success though, it’s about elevating the profession and building a stronger future for every child we serve. A Year Well Served: Reflections and Renewed Purpose for 2026

By: Donette Worthy

As 2025 draws to a close child nutrition professionals across Florida are taking a well-earned moment to pause and reflect. Each school year brings new demands, unexpected challenges, and opportunities to innovate. It also brings countless reminders of the impact we make every single day. The end of the year gives us space to acknowledge the dedication, creativity, and resilience that define our profession.

14 | Healthy Harvest December 2025

This year You may have introduced new recipes, supported nutrition education activities, balanced changing meal pattern requirements, or found ways to stretch tight budgets without compromising quality. You may have mentored a new team member, strengthened relationships with students, or brought joy to the cafeteria with a themed meal or cultural celebration. These moments, both big and small, are worth celebrating because they tell the story of a profession that never stops adapting in service of children’s health and well-being. Reflection also helps us recognize personal growth Many of us have learned new skills, mastered new technologies, or improved processes to make our operations more efficient. Others have discovered fresh inspiration by visiting other districts, attending trainings, or observing the changing habits and needs of the students we serve. As child nutrition professionals, we grow not only in our knowledge but also in our patience, empathy, and ability to find solutions where others see obstacles. As we look toward 2026 We welcome the chance to set new intentions. The upcoming year invites us to refresh our energy and approach our work with curiosity and optimism. Perhaps you hope to explore scratch cooking, expand student taste tests, or incorporate more local produce. Maybe you are aiming to strengthen staff morale, focus on wellness, or pursue new credentials that broaden your expertise. Even a small goal, such as introducing a new menu item, trying a new line-flow strategy, or building a new connection with a student, can spark meaningful change. Most importantly The new year reminds us why our work matters. Every meal served fuels learning. Every positive cafeteria experience supports a child’s sense of belonging. As we move into 2026, let us carry forward the pride of a year well served and the excitement of all the possibilities ahead. Your dedication nourishes more than
